Here is a political cartoon from the early 60's about changing the Canadian flag. I believe it's from the Toronto Star.
Wm. L. Houle , 19 october 2000
"Well, obviously, there are a lot of raw feelings on both sides of the issue, so what I would do is cut the Confederate flag and the American flag in half, and sew a new flag from half of each. I might not make much sense from a design standpoint, but I think it solves the problem of honoring both those who fell in battle defending a controversial labor practice and those who didn't. I'm glad you brought this up, by the way, because I'm a healer. I just want people to get along. I dream of a day when the redneck will sit down in peace with the gang banger and share, you know, some barbecue or something. That's my dream.' -- Comments at Charleston, SC, Daughters of the Confederacy rally, Feb. 4, 2000
It is on a subpage from this site . First, a couple of redirections, then click on 'agenda'. The candidate in question is Uncle Duke, of Doonesbury fame.
