About flags in novels, I remember the novel "The Prisoner of Zenda", Anthony Hope never described the flag of Ruritania, but then I remember the movie "Royal Flash" (that is a parody version of The Prisoner of Zenda) they show a flag of the Strakcens (that appears in the book!) occupying the place of Ruritania in the movie, this flag is a white (or silver, as you prefer) field with horizontal blue (azur) lines and with a square in the first vertical third that shows a gold dragon over a gules (or red) field.
