Description of the flag

The flag is similar to the organization's logo, but without lettering. It includes only the blue emblem of two children and a flower, all dark blue on white. The ratio 3:2 is conjectural.

António Martins-Tuválkin, 19 December 2001

The flag and logo are used for SOS Barnbyar, a help program in Sweden for children in less developed countries.

Elias Grandqvist, 19 December 2001

The SOS Children's Villages were founded in 1949 by an Austrian, Hermann Gmeiner. Their webpage has more.

Variant of the flag

[SOS Children's Villages] by António Martins-Tuválkin, modified by Ivan Sache

The review of the French branch of the NGO "Villages de Joie" (#181, May 2002) shows a slightly different version of the flag of the NGO. A colour picture shows children of the village of Mopti (Mali) welcoming visitors with small flags. On these flags, the logo is larger and the frame around it has a gap on each side, whereas the logo of the NGO, also shown in the review, has no hole. At least five flags can be clearly seen, all of them with the same pattern.
