About the flag

It is a quite typical portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centered on a plain green background. The coat of arms is or, a tower gules under a Avis cross (vert fleury) and between a two parassol pine trees proper, on each of which perches an owl proper. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE CORUCHE".
António Martins, 24 Feb 2000

The arms might be canting, provided that between the words "coruche" and "coruja" (="owl") is more than just a surface similarity.
António Martins, 24 Feb 2000

Version without the coat of arms

Plain (monocolored) portuguese subnational flags are not allowed to have armless variations: plain flags always carry the coat of arms.
Jorge Candeias, 18 Jul 1999
