If I recall correctly, the municipalities Amadora
(dettached from Oeiras) and Vendas Novas
(dettached from Montemor-o-Novo) were created in
1982. Then the creation of new municipalities was “frozen” untill the long
awaited setting of the upper lever (new) administrative
regions and new municipalities were created only in 1998
(Vizela and Odivelas).
