If I recall correctly, the municipalities Amadora
(dettached from Oeiras) and Vendas Novas
(dettached from Montemor-o-Novo) were created in
1982. Then the creation of new municipalities was �frozen� untill the long
awaited setting of the upper lever (new) administrative
regions and new municipalities were created only in 1998
(Vizela and Odivelas).
