About the flag

This unofficial flag for Bohuslän was designed as a private initiative by someone who probably was not aware of the existence of the official flag for Bohuslän.

The flag was reported in Göteborgs-Posten, a Swedish newspaper, in 1997. It had been used in Grebbestad since 1996. In 2001 it is reported to have been seen at Gullholmen too.

According to the article in Göteborgs-Posten, the red colour stands for granite, while the two blue shades symbolise sky and sea. The image above is based on the description from the newspaper.
