Presentation of the municipality

Cerklje means 'churches', so there is need of specifying region (on Gorenjska, being 'highland', north-west part of Slovenia). Usually only the first part of name is mentioned when there is no possibility of confusion (even once in the decision mentioned below).

Description of the flag

The coat of arms and flag are prescribed by decision Odlok o simbolih obcine Cerklje na Gorenjskem, adopted on 15 May 1995 and published in the official gazette of Gorenjska Uradni vestnik Gorenjske, nr. 10/XXVIII on 30 May 1995.

The flag is horizontal divided blue-yellow-blue, based on the coat of arms.
The colours are determined by Pantone system as follows:

  • Blue: Process Blue U 100%
  • Yellow: Process Yellow U 100%.

The decision does not mention the official ratio of the flag, so in the image shown above I assumed that it is 1:2, to match with the national flag.

Coat of arms

[Coat of arms of Cerklje na Gorenjskem]by Zeljko Heimer

The coat of arms is in shield shape with three points above, blue with smaller white shield in upper part including year "ADMCLIV" (1154, first mention as parish seat) and three yellow Greek crosses in lower part. An image can be seen on the administrative unit Kranj website, which agrees well with the description from the decision.
