Presentation of the municipality

Kidricevo is a small industrial city near Ptuj, formerly called Strnisce, renamed after Boris Kidric, Slovenian Communist politician, one of leaders of Slovenian anti-fascist struggle in Second World War, and the first president of People's Republic of Slovenia within Yugoslavia. The municipality of Kidricevo was formed in 1995 by separation from Ptuj.

Description of the flag

The decision on the adoption of the symbols of the municipality of Kidricevo (Odlok o grbu in zastavi Obcine Kidricevo) was adopted on 29 February 1996 and published in the local official gazette Uradni vestnik obcin Ormoz in Ptuj (Gorisnica, Kidricevo, Majsperk, Videm, Dornava), 7/96 on 7 March 1996, with effect on 22 March 1996. These data (but not the text ) on the decision are available on line.

The symbols were designed by Valt Jurecic of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images shown on this page were made.

The flag is rectangular in ratio 2:5, vertically divided in three fields, the first and third are green and the middle one is square of white colour. It contains three green leaves (2+1).

Coat of arms

[Coat of arms of Kidricevo]by Zeljko Heimer

The coat of arms is:

Per pale argent and vert issuant from the partition line three leaves counterchanged, two in dexter and one in sinister.

The leaves are that of wild chestnut. In nature these leaves are in fact composed of seven leaflets, but it may well be simplified with five as on the design without loosing the identifablity. Valt mentioned that people did not even notice that two leaflets were missing.

Zeljko Heimer, 9 January 2002

But leaves of wild chestnuts do not all have seven leaflets. Most flora give 5-7 leaflets for wild chestnut.

The vertical version of the flag is not confirmed, but quite possible.
