Presentation of the municipality

Lenart is a town located some 20 km northeast from Maribor, in some of my atlases named Lenart v Slovenskih Goricah (meaning in Slovene, Highlands/Hills). I believe that this has not been used as the name for the municipality, but only as the name of its main city.

Description of the flag

The coat of arms and flagare prescribed by decision Odlok o grbu in zastavi Obcine Lenart, adopted on 2 October 1997, and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, nr. 71, pp. 5624-6, 21 November1997,with effect on 28 November1997.

The flag is vertical 1:3, green with the coat of arms in the middle, the width of the arms being 1/2 of the hoist side.

The decision has a detailed construction sheet of the coat of arms and the flag. The coat of arms is given is an "inflated" triangular shield, ratio 6:7, white, between two green hills a church with a tower topped red, with two sides roofed red and a part of facade. The elements are lined black, there are two black windows, a circular one on facade and an arched on the tower, and a white opening in the tower roof.
The colours are defined by SCC system (Cinkarna Celje system).

Former flag

According to Banderas municipales de Eslovenia, published in Banderas [ban] #58 (March 1996), and a postcard showing the Slovenian coats of arms, it seems that the former coat of arms and flag were adopted in 1989, though in minor details differing from what is official today.

The flag was green, with the coat of arms in the middle, without further details defining it.

Former coat of arms

It seems that the coat of arms used from that time had at least two variation - one having red chief with white inscription with the name of community in white, the other without this chief, but with white inscription of the year 1989 in base (green field). It is possible that coat of arms without inscription was also used.
