Description of the flag

Acording to the information from Banderas municipales de Eslovenia, published in Banderas [ban] #58 (March 1996), Tolmin adopted a coat of arms and flag on 28 January 1982.

The flag is light blue with the coat of arms in canton. It is not confirmed if the community retained the coat of arms and flag after independence either with or without any modifications.

The coat of arms is in shield shape, and can be blazoned as follows:

Gules from embattled wall sable issuant flames or in base a curving path azure in bend sinistre and two farming tools argent with broken handles fesswise, in chief dexter year 1713.

The coat of arms represents the 1713 peasants' uprising, one of the most important ones in the region.
