Red with in the upper part yellow name in script font in Cyrillic [Kazakh] (K,azak, SSR) and Cyrillic [Russian] (Kazachskaja SSR). Big yellow hammer and sickle on the hoist.

The kazakh inscription contains (twice) the special letter "k" with “hook”:
K, a z a k,    S S R
, which is different from the normal, “hook”-less, cyrillic "k".
