Red with in the upper hoist yellow name in sanserif in both Latin (Qazaq SSR) and Cyrillic (Kazachskaja SSR). Yellow hammer and sickle above.

Red with in the upper part yellow name in script font in Cyrillic [Kazakh] (K,azak, SSR) and Cyrillic [Russian] (Kazachskaja SSR). Big yellow hammer and sickle on the hoist.

The kazakh inscription contains (twice) the special letter "k" with “hook”:
   
, which is different from the normal, “hook”-less, cyrillic "k".
