Description of the flag

The flag was adopted by the Carroll County Board on March 14, 1974. I had designed the flag as part of the county's U.S. Bicentennial project in 1974. The county had been settled by people from Maryland, and was named after Charles Carroll of Carrollton, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. The flag is essentially his family's coat-of-arms, with the sword all in gold, vs. gold hilt-silver blade in the original.
Albert Kirsch, 29 January 1999
