The Town of Gander is located in central Newfoundland and is a major service centre for the area. The community is situated on the Trans Canada Highway with access to deep water ports in just 30 minutes. Gander is the home of Gander International Airport with daily domestic and international flights serving the province, the region and the world.

From its beginnings as a strategic location during the war, Gander International Airport was a staging area for the Royal Air Force Ferry Command. Gander's importance during the war continued to be equally as important during peace time- the construction of the Town of Gander began in the early 50's and the airport town is now a bustling community.
