Morvka was mentioned first in 1636. Farming and forestry were main sources of living. The number of people increased gradually up to 4,500. Some people settled border regions after World War II. Some people chose easier lives and moved to towns. After construction of the water reservoir the population fell down to the present 1,030. Now, Morvka is a resort area for nearby towns and cities.
