The arms of Lyonnais are better those of the city of Lyon, as there is a chief azure three fleurs de lys or, which is the sign of a royal "good town" (bonne ville). These arms are canting, but as the etymology of the name "Lyon" doesn't mean "lion", the origin of these arms is certainly other.
