Anloo [former municipality]

Anloo [voormalige gemeente]

Shipmate Flagchart : http://www.shipmate.nl/flags.html

Flag of the former municipality of Anloo in Drenthe (Netherlands). It is since 1-1-1998 part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze.

The flag (adopted ?) has been derived from the municipal CoA. The key refers to the 'spicarium' (warehouse) in Anloo, where tax 'in natura' was stored for the bishop of Utrecht. It was managed by the 'plebaan' of Anloo, who was deacon of Drenthe too. The cross accentuates the Christian/episcopal character of the municipality. Anloo was in olden days one of the three places where sessions of the 'Etstoel' (a judicial college, comparable to the Scandinavian 'thing') of Drenthe took place. 9 of the 54 'hunebeds' are found here.

Gasselte [former municipality]

Gasselte [voormalige gemeente]

Shipmate Flagchart : http://www.shipmate.nl/flags.html

the flag of the former municipality of Gasselte in Drenthe, Netherlands. Since 1-1-1998 part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze.

The ship reminds of the shipping on the Hunze river, especially since the 17th century; in 1913 35 expensive seaships had their homeport in Gasselternijeveen, but nowadays the Hunze can't be passed by ships over 120 tonnes BRT. Flag adopted ?

Gieten [former municipality]

Gieten [voormalige gemeente]

Shipmate Flagchart : http://www.shipmate.nl/flags.html

The municipality of Gieten has been absorbed by the municipality of Aa en Hunze on 1-1-1998 (let's hope this flag is more used than the official municipal flag...) Adopted ?

Eext

Eext Village Shipmate Flagchart : http://www.shipmate.nl/flags.html

The village of Eext is just outside the mighty metropole of Gieten, in the municipality of Aa en Hunze, Drenthe province, the Netherlands, and they expect to become rich by selling their "Ossevlag" - Oxen-flag, as can be seen on <http://www.eextinfo.nl/Vlag/main.htm>. I suspect that the design hasn't passed by any heraldic commission (yet), as the dimensions don't seem to be proper Drents - and there are too many oxen to my taste (and I don't feel very hungry right now :-)

Description: five horizontal stripes RVRVR, with a red vertical stripe at the hoist, length = glaglentgh. Over all seven watching yellow ox-heads, 3 on the red hoist stripe, and the others on the red horizontal stripes, placed 2-1-2 (or something like that...)
Adopted 29 Jul 1999.

Rolde [former municipality]

Rolde [voormalige gemeente]

Shipmate Flagchart : http://www.shipmate.nl/flags.html

Rolde is since 1-1-1999 part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze.

This flag was adopted 9 February 1962 by the municipal council of Rolde. The colors were derived from the municipal CoA. Sword and cross symbolize Justice; Rolde had an important place in the old institution of 'Etstoel' (Scandinavian: 'Thing). Alternative (older) name for municipality in Drenthe was 'dingspel'. The position of the sword seems strange: normally the point of the sword is directed towards the hoist
