Municipal flag

Druten lies some kilometers west of Nijmegen in the riverlandscape of Waal and Maas. Tobacco was grown here.
The flag was adopted 23-2-1984; it is derived from the municipal CoA; the green stripe seems to symbolize the fertile stroke of land between the big rivers Maas and Waal. The lion is derived from the provincial CoA of Gelderland.

The old flag was divided horizontally white and green, with in the canton a horizontally three-striped flag BYN. It was not official and was also derived from the CoA (the green bar), while in the canton the colors were from the Gelderland provincial flag
