The Overbetuwe municipality is the result of a merger of the former municipalities of Elst, Heteren and Valburg. The municipality has not adopted a new flag as yet.
Elst is nearly synonymous with 'fruit of the Betuwe'. It is between the big
cities of Arnhem and Nijmegen and gets once every year attention by the 4-days
walk ('Vierdaagse')
The flag is a combination of the Dutch RWB and the Gelderland BYN <which is a
pity; on the municipal CoA is a coffin, representing St. Werenfridus, the patron
saint of Elst and Westervoort, floating on the water>

Heteren is southwest of Arnhem in the eastern Betuwe.
The old flag was horizontal RYB, derived from the municipal CoA. To make the
superficial observer completely aware of that the CoA has been put on the new
flag.

Valburg is c. 20 km southwest of Arnhem near a big road-junction. In
this municipality Ds. O. G. Heldring organized in the 19th century the
'Heldringgestichten' (Heldring foundations), amongst others for 'gevallen
vrouwen' (fallen women (?))
The flag was adopted 9 Aug. 1954, colors derived from the CoA.
