This republic, with its considerable oil and mineral reserves, is likely to be of economic importance in the future. The Komi are a Finno-Urgic people who have been ruled by the Russians since the 14th century. However, they were largely left to their own devices until the 1930s when the economic significance of the territory was realized. An Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was created in 1936; in 1990 this proclaimed itself a Republic.

Description of the flag

On 27 Nov 1992 Komi adopted a simple three horizontal (light blue - green - white) striped flag.
Giuseppe Bottasini quoting Aldo Ziggioto [
zig94]

I see this is refered in [zig94] as skyblue, but all other sources show medium blue.
António Martins, 20 May 2000

This flag (in medium blue) is listed under number 85 at the chart Flags of Aspirant Peoples [eba94] as: «Komi Republic (Komi) [Zyrians] - North Russia».
