About the flag
The County of G�vleborg consists of an area about the same as the two provinces Gästrikland and Hälsingland. Its arms is a shield quarted of the two provincial arms, the elk for G�strikland and the goat for H�lsingland; the quartered form was chosen so that the animals would not be too stretched out in the fields.Elias Granqvist 27 September 2000

Official blazon in Swedish: "Kvadrerad sk�ld, i f�lt I och IV G�striklands vapen, f�lt II och III H�lsinglands."(The arms of G�strikland are blazoned: "I ett med bl� kulor bestr�tt f�lt av silver en r�d �lg med gyllene bev�ring"; the arms of H�lsingland are blazoned: "I svart f�lt en gyllene bock med r�d bev�ring".)
Blazoned in English: "Quartered, Argent Hurty an Elk stantant Gules attired and hoofed Or, and Sable, a Goat rampant Or attired and hoofed Gules."
