Koh Samui is Thailand's third largest island, located about
496 km south of Bangkok, and it belongs to Suratthani Province.
Koh Samui has been developed into a very popular holiday
resort in South East Asia.
The presence of big game fish, such as barracuda, tuna,
wahoo, swordfish or marlin here attracts many game fishing
enthusiasts, you can charter fully crewed boats from most
major coastal resorts.
Here, you should visit the Samui's most popular attraction,
is the Big Buddha sitting 15 meters tall, built in 1972
by the local society to give visitors a place to pay respect
to The Lord Buddha. This monumental landmark is placed on
the island's Northern shore.
Among others are the strangely shaped rocks at south Lamai,
Hin Lad Water fall, Naga Pearl Farm. A definite must see
for all those visiting the island, is the snake farm featuring
snakes indigenous to Samui.
Getting There and Moving Around
By air
Bangkok is the main entry point into Thailand as well as
being a major access point.
By rail
By Rapid Train or flight (Bangkok - Kantang) leaves Bangkok
and arrives Surat Thani. Bus transfer to Donsak and ferry
boat arrives Koh Samui.
Moving Around
Getting there by air is the easiest and fastest way to
get to Koh Samui, there is also air-conditioned train, bus
and ferry services provided to travel around the fascinating
town.
