Located 147 kilometers southeast of Bangkok or only about
two-hour drive, Pattaya is Thailand's premier beach resort
and attracts hundreds of thousands of pleasure-seeking tourist
from all over the world, annually. You will be able to find
long stretches of clean and sandy beach as well as rocky
coves and coral strands.
For your excitement, visitors can windsurf, water ski,
swim, sunbathe, snorkel, sail, or take trips to offshore
coral islands. Pattaya's main fun beach is at Jomtien, which
runs for a distance of about 5 kilometers.
Among the other superb sites to be visited are the Nong
Nooch Tropical Garden, Pattaya Park Tower, Hotel & Water
Park, Ripley's Museum Believe It or Not, an other interesting
places.
Colorful and alive with activity, Pattaya is unrivaled
as a beach resort. It is in a class of its own, offering
more attractions in greater profusion than any other single
destination in Southeast Asia. Day and night, it presents
an ever changing kaleidoscope of fun and thrills.
Getting There and Moving Around
By air
The most common way to reach here is from Bangkok International
Airport also known as Don Muang. The Bangkok airport serves
internal and external flights.
By rail
State Railways of Thailand have four lines all terminating
in Bangkok. The main station in Bangkok is Hualampong on
Rama IV Road and this serves most of the long-distance routes.
Noi station across the river in Thonburi serves Kanchanaburi
and a few destinations to the south.
By road
Bangkok has three main bus terminals serving different
areas of the country. There are both air-conditioned and
non-air-conditioned buses, and the air-conditioned ones
tend to be faster, making less stops en route.
Pattaya is linked to the mainland and is easily accessible
by road as well as by air. There is also an air-conditioned
bus, which leaves the Akemai Bus Terminal every 20 minutes.
The Southern Bus Terminal on Boromratchonnani Road operates
south to Hua Hin, Phuket and the Thai-Malaysian border.
The North/northeastern Bus Terminal, on Kampaeng Petch 2
Road (northeast)) has routes to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai
in the north and Ubon Ratchathani and Nong Khai in the northeast.
The Eastern Bus Terminal, on Sukhumvit Road operates to
Pattaya and Trat in the east.
Taxis can be hailed on the streets and if they are metered
there is a taxi meter sign on the roof. Tuk Tuk, three-wheeled
taxis ply the streets and are ideal for short journeys.
Motorcycle taxis are now available as they can manoeuvre
between the cars to reach their destination. Car hire services
are also available for you to move around this fascinating
town.
Moving Around
The availability of various transportation mode here is
an advantage of moving around the city.
