Co Loa Citadel (Thanh Co Loa), is located in Co Loa Village,
Hanoi. Co Loa was twice the capital of the country - the
first time during the An Duong Vuong era in the late 3rd
and early 2nd century BC, and the second time during the
Ngo Vuong Quyen reign in the middle of the 10th century.
Only vestiges of the massive ancient ramparts
are extant. The present Co Loa consists only 3 circular
walls. According to legend, the Vietnamese constructed memorials
and temples to dedicate to King Thuc, Princess My Chau and
Trong Thuy. Memorials and relics include the Ngu Trieu Di
Qui communal house, My Chau temple, Bao Son pagoda, Ngoc
well, flag tower, and Ngu Xa castle.
