THE GREAT WALL 14th TOWER

The Qin Dynasty first built the Watchtowers, and they were usually two bowshot from each other. Then the wall was constructed. Workers filled wooden frames with earth, which was then tamped tightly. Removal of the frames leaves a tight packed wall.
