THE GREAT BARRIER REEF :The great barrier reef is one of
the natural wonder of the world, it is on
the world heritage list. The combination of weather pristine rainforest,
white sandy beaches, and oceans varying in hue from blue to turquoise
to green. The area abounds with wildlife including varieties of
dolphines,whales, more than 1500 species of fish, 4000 type of mollusu
and 200 species of birdlife.The barrier reef system consist of
more than 3000 reef which range in size from 1 hectare to
over 10,000 hectures in area. The reef is scattered with beautiful island
and idyllic coral cay and covers more than 300,000 Sq km. There are many
different coral like the some grow slowly and some that live for year
and some that grow very fast.
The colors of coral are created by algea and dead coral are in white color.
The great barrier reef is a great place to visit , it is full of aquatic
beauty, and is an example of nature at its best.
Diving on the outer edge of the barrier into the coral sea is like diving
in a fish bowl. The barrier is full of huge trees of soft coral.The great
barrier reef is the most diverse, living growing ecosystem, and the largest
barrier reef in the world.
ULURU (AYERS ROCK) :The Uluru also known as Ayer Rock is
the world's biggest monolith. The Uluru is a
sacred for the aboriginals. It is 9.4 km in circumference and 345
meters high. It is made of arkosic sandstone and is renowned for
the way it changes its color in light and specially spectacular during
Sunrise and Sunset. The uluru is located in the Kata Tjuta National
Park about 335 km to the South West alice springs in northern territory,
Australia.
The aboriginal own the uluru and feel responsible for all the people
on and surrounding the rock. The aboriginals also use some of the caves
for tribal ceremonies and use it as burial chambers. The Uluru is the
homeland of the Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara people
also known as Anangu. The uluru was named Ayer Rock by European
explorer Ernest Giles who Sighted it in 1872 and named it for the South
Australian Premier of the time, Sir Henry Ayers. The uluru is visible
from over 200km.
