[Leeuwarderadeel 1935 flag] by Jarig Bakker, 1 Jul 2003

In Sierksma's Nederlands Vlaggenboek, 1962 [sie62] no image is included, just a (vague) description:
"Leeuwarden - Ljourteradiel; the municipal colors are green, white, yellow, and blue. In 1935 at the occasion of the feasts around the 750 years of existence  of "Groot-Leeuwarden" flags of four equally wide horizontal stripes in these colors were used".

Leeuwarderadeel 1938 flag

[Leeuwarderadeel 1938 flag] by Jarig Bakker, 1 Jul 2003

The "Encyclopedie van het Hedendaagse Friesland, 1975" lists another flag: the Frisian flag with in the left upper corner the municipal arms.
This flag was probably used in 1938 on the occasion of Queen Wilhelmina's 40th reign jubilee.

Oude Leije [village]

village Oude Leije by Jarig Bakker, 21 May 1999

Oude Leije (Âldeleie) is on the border of three municipalities: Ferwerderadiel, het Bildt and Leeuwarderadeel; since 1975 it has been assigned to Leeuwarderadeel. If the "Elfstedentocht" skating-marathon is being held it passes through this little village.
Description of the flag: three equally wide horizontal stripes red - yellow - blue.
In olden days Oude Leije had a little harbour (before the enclosure of Het Bildt), and its see-going ships had this flag, as observed by Hesman, who drew it in his manuscript of 1708. The colors were later used for the new municipal flag of Het Bildt.
