Alentejan heraldic motives

In this plain and rich region took place the largerst part of the �Reconquer� crusade after Portugal become independent. Dead moor are very often in local coats of arms � in Algarve, the southernmost region, coats of arms tend to bear upright and living heads of moor and christian kings � much more pollitically correct... Considering that Alentejo is traditionally a not very religious, communist oriented region, it is very strange why this kind of intolerant and nationalist coats of arms were not changed at all...
