Fort Adelaide, which resembles a Moorish
fortress is known to the locals as La Citadelle. This citadel
was fortified in the time of William IV. It is the only
one of Port Louis' forts that is still accessible and not
in ruins. Situated atop a promontory with stretches towards
the city centre, it offers excellent views of Port Louis
from its hilltop and harbourside location.
