It is the tomb of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder
of the Ming Dynasty. Nestled at the southern foot of the
Purple Mountain, it was built in the 9th year of the reign
of the emperor (1376). There is an archway, the Golden Gate,
the Square Citadel, the Sacred Way, the stone animals and
stone figures, the stone pillars, the stele pavilion and
the Citadel of Treasure at the tomb site. It is one of the
largest ancient mausoleum preserved today which boasts of
a long history of more than 600 years.
