The island of Coloane was a convenient place for pirates
when Macau was the centre of trade between China and the
West with its desert coves, rugged cliffs, large sea caves
and densely forested hills. The only visitors to the island
were hunters in search for quail and pigeons. Today, its
beaches, wooded hills and traditional village remains a
quiet retreat for visitors. There are a few places of interest
in this island, namely Tam Kong Temple, the Chapel of St.
Francis Xavier, Seac Pai Van Park, Cheoc Van Park, the Hac
Sa Sports and Recreation Complex, Ka-Ho Port as well as
its Cheoc Van and Hac Sa beaches.
