The ancient Monte Fort or Mount Fortress is where the Museum
of Macau is located. It is appropriate that the museum is
built in this fort as the latter is the original heart of
the Portuguese settlement and it reflects the historical
identity of the territory, as well as being a defence symbol
of the city in early days. The fortress building initially
also served as the Governor residence and later as army
headquarters. This museum focuses on the life of the place
and its people from the first settlement to the present
day, with a vast collection of historic and social memorabilia.
Opening hours : 10.00am - 6.00pm daily (except Monday).
Admissions fees : Adults - 15 patacas; Children under 11
years and Adults over 60 - 8 patacas; Students, official
