Located just off the mainland, Carey Island, is separated
from the mainland by Klang River, connected by a bridge
from Chondoi near Banting. This place is well known for
its aborigines community called the Mah Meri. This tribe
is concentrated at Sungai Bumbun and is famed for its wood
carvings.
The Mah Meri craftsmen find subjects for their artistic
expression through the ancestral spirits they worship. Apart
from producing sculptures, the Mah Meri also perform their
unique traditional dances and music during special occasions.
The island is also famous for its seafood such as crabs,
prawns, and various fish.
