Stands at the tip of George Town, Fort Cornwallis is a
historic site where Captain Francis Light first landed on
the island in the year 1786. Today it's a privately managed
cultural venue which can be visited. The remains of this
wooden fort were later rebuilt using stones by convict labor
in 1804.
