Located in the valley of the Sungai Kenong, the Kenong Rimba
Park, covers an area of 128 sq. km of lush vegetation. The
park is situated in a natural surrounding with cascading
waterfalls, mountain streams, and a variety of flora and
fauna.
The park is also the home to the aboriginal race called
the Batak. Apart from the natural surrounding, the park
offers great adventure, such as challenging hiking trails
interspersed with protruding rocks, swimming in the river
camp, limestone caves, rock climbing, jungle trekking, and
fishing.
Within the park, there are several caves to explore. Among
them are the Gua Batu Telangkup, Gua Hijau and Gua Harimau.
The caves, are situated approximately 122-152 meters above
sea level, and are a natural habitat for a range of flora
and nature's other marvels.
Getting there, is excisable through a 5 minute walk from
the Kuala Lipis railway station to the jetty of Sungai Jelai,
from there take the sampan for a 20 minute ride to Tanjung
Kiara. Alternatively, the journey by the river from Kuala
Lipis takes between 2-3 hours. There is also a tour package
organized by travel agencies and also by the Keretapi Tanah
Melayu Berhad.
