The Lambir Hills National Park, gazetted in 1975, covers
an area of approximately 6, 952 hectares Southwest of Miri,
Sarawak. The highest peak rises some 450 meters above sea
level. The lower slopes and valleys are home to huge stands
of mixed forest. Within the park wildlife such as the Borneo
gibbon, bearded pig and the barking deer, lives.
There are also more than hundred or more known species
of birds in the Park. For bird watchers, tree top huts are
provided. Jungle tracks and a suspension bridge, a cool
green ambience, the roar of a cascading waterfall all add
to the excitement at the Park. The park is easily accessible
through a half an hour's drive from Miri. Several organized
trips to the Park depart from Miri in the early morning
and return to Miri after lunch.
