The Taman Negara or National Park is one of the oldest
tropical rain forests located in the world. It is partly
located in Pahang's tropical rain forest and is home to
countless species of flora and fauna. Covering an area of
4,343 sq. km of virgin jungle, the park offers an undisturbed
diversity of habitats and plant communities, such as wildlife
species, exotic birds, fish and plants, some of which can
only be found in this part of the world. The park is also
home to Malaysia's friendly aborigines, the Orang Asli's.
The Taman Negara adventure begins at a very start of the
journey into the park at Kuala Tembeling which you can reach
from Jerantut which is approximately a 3 to 4 hour drive
from Kuala Lumpur. There are regular bus and taxi services
from Jerantut to Kuala Tembeling and from then on it is
the boat ride to Kuala Tahan, arriving in the Park's administration
station. Besides discovering the living treasures mother
nature has to offer, venture into the forest, and enjoy
mountaineering, exploring spectacular caves, or simply swimming
in crystal clear pools, which is among the adventures of
a lifetime, within these park.
