This 13th century Gothic church is one of the oldest churches
in the city. During coronation ceremonies it was the place
where aristocrats were knighted to become Knights of the
Golden Spur.
The Chapel of St. John Evangelist at the northern wall served
as a tomb for families of Bratislava mayors. This two-floor
chapel, dating from the 14th century, which belonged to
the mayor of Bratislava, is one of the most beautiful examples
of Gothic architecture in Slovakia.
