White Sands National Monument is a spectacular expanse
of white sands and dunes, located near the site of the explosion
of the first atomic bomb. The Visitor Center is an excellent
example of Spanish Pueblo Revival architecture constructed
during the Great Depression by various government agencies,
including the Works Progress Administration (WPA).
