Boston, the capital of Massachusetts, is located in the east
of the state on Boston Bay at the mouth of the Charles River.
Boston is one of the oldest cities in the United States. It
is the largest city in New England and Boston is a good base
from which to explore the regions' other historic towns.
Concord, west of Boston, is one of the most historic and
beautiful towns in the USA. The Old North Bridge in Concord
was the site of the 'shot heard round the world' in the
opening engagement of the American War of Independence.
Visit the Museum of Fine Arts which is over 125 years old
and has an impressive in-house collection of international
art as well as temporary exhibits. It is particularly renowned
for its holdings of Egyptian art, Chinese and Japanese ceramics,
French Impressionist paintings and American art.
Be on top of the world here, the 60-floor John Hancock
Observatory is the highest observation point in New England,
and offers visitors a birds-eye view of the fascinating
city.
At the Boston Tea Party Ship & Museum, visitors can
throw tea chests overboard from a replica tea ship and mingle
with heroes of the independence movement- Congress Street
Bridge.
A drop- dead fun spot, Black Heritage Trail, a fascinating
walking tour traces the history of Boston's African-American
community in the nineteenth century. The trail explores
the Boston African-American National Historic Site at Beacon
Hill and includes the African Meeting House - the oldest
surviving black.
Visitors to Boston can enjoy both traditional New England
cooking and also the delicious cuisine of the city's many
ethnic communities, also the superb international flavours
that cater to each and every of your taste.
Getting There and Moving Around
By air
The airport in Boston is the largest in New England and
acts as the gateway to the region for national and international
travelers. It serves a number of domestic and international
flights here.
By sea
The Massachusetts Bay Transport Authority (MBTA)also runs
a number of ferry services across the bay.
By rail
Amtrak operates from South Station (Summer Street and Atlantic
Avenue) or Back Bay Station to several other cities in the
northeast. The NortheastDirect service runs from Boston
to Newport (Virginia) via New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore
and Washington, DC. The Lakeshore Limited service runs from
Boston to Albany, Buffalo, Cleveland and Chicago.
The Massachusetts Bay Transport Authority (MBTA) operates
Boston's subway system (known as the 'T'), as well as commuter
rail. Local commuter rail services operate from South Station,
North Station and Back Bay.
By road
The Massachusetts Bay Transport Authority (MBTA) also runs
bus services throughout the city and surrounding towns.
Taxi services can be hailed from street corners and there
is a number of companies offer car hire services.

transportation and suburban buses extend travel beyond the
