Salt Lake City Guide

Utah's largest city, Salt Lake City is the anchor of the Wasatch Front, a string of cities and towns stretching along the base of the Wasatch Range from Provo in the south to Ogden in the north.

There are many exciting activities you can do here. One of them is hiking at the City Creek Canyon Trail. The trail extends about 5 mi/8 km to the top of City Creek Canyon from Memory Grove Park.

Skiing is also a fun-filled outdoor activity for locals as well as visitors. The Wasatch Canyons', the skiing area is Salt Lake City's premier spot for winter activities. Ski resorts are within a half-hour to 45-minutes drive downtown and it includes Park City, The Canyon, Deer Valley up Parley's Canyon, Brighton and Solitude in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

For a back-to-nature experience, one may want to enjoy fishing at the big river and streams. Some of the famous streams to fish are the Big & Little Cottonwood and Millcreek Canyons. There are many other Northern Utah lakes and streams that offer abundant of fishing opportunities.

Getting There and Moving Around

By air

The Salt Lake City International Airport serves both inbound and outbound domestic and international flights.

By rail

Amtrak trains arrive and depart from the old Rio Grande Depot downtown to several destinations within the city.

By road

The interstate highway is an extensive road network that connect the city to other states.

Bus service is provided by Utah Transit Authority (UTA) throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Service is limited on Saturdays, and there is none at all on Sundays, however.

There will be car rental and taxi services provided around the city for your convenience.

Also, the UTA Trolley (the "Discovery" trolley) may be another mode of transportation options. It operates between Temple Square and Trolley Square, with stops at Old Deseret Village, Tracy Aviary, The Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau, and many other stops.
