Treaty of Waitangi Celebration
Throughout New Zealand, 6th February, 2000
The Treaty of Waitangi Celebration in the Bay of Islands area commemorates the signing of the Treaty on 6th Feb 1840. This national holiday's event is televised throughout New Zealand. Go to Wellington for the Auckland Cup Harness Racing Meeting.


The Ngaruawahia River Regatta
Hamilton, March
Is the only Maori canoe regatta, held during March near Hamilton. Events also include horse swimming, rowing, and speedboat racing, tribal dance competitions, and much more.
