The Santiago Museum, modest but informative, is an excellent
place to dive into the history of the foundation of Santiago
through the time of the republic. This red-washed, colonial
residence was once the home of Mateo de Toro y Zambrano,
the most prosperous Santiaguino businessman of the 18th-century,
and is today one of the best-preserved colonial structures
in all of Santiago.
