Fried Hokkien Mee
A popular dish with the local Chinese. Noodles fried with
seasoned prawns, cuttlefish and cabbage served with a thick
gravy made with corn-flour, soy sauce and herbs.

Fried Kway Teow
Slightly flatter and wider noodles fried with scallops, eggs,
shrimp, soy sauce, herbs and vegetables.

Bak-Kut-Teh
Pork ribs simmered in a mixture of herbs - a soup.

Chapati
Wheat pancakes served with meat curry and vegetables.

Murtabak
Roti canai stuffed with a mix-ture of minced beef, egg and
onion and served with curry gravy.

Rice and Curry
A staple of the Indian community. Boiled rice is eaten with
a curry dish and some vegetables. This meal can be eaten on
plates or on a banana-leaf. A normal accompaniment is, rasam
the origin of the British Colonial Mulligatawny. Sometimes
yoghurt is also served.

Briyani
This is rice cooked with ghee, raisins and cashewnuts. Chicken
briyani or mutton briyani is simply briyani cooked with chunks
of chicken or mutton.

Sup Kambing
Mutton soup liberally laced with spices.
