The Kwangbop Temple is situated at the foot of taesong
Mountains 13km north of the city centre.
It was built in 392 in the Koguryo Dynasty. It was destroyed
in the war and restored in Juche 79(1990).
The Taeung Hall has double hip-saddle roof which is a rare
style of Korean Buddhist temples.
Around the Taeung Hall stand the Chonwang Gate, Haethal
Gate, east and west monasteries. To the right of the Haethal
Gate stands a stone pillar for flying a Buddhist banner
and a little futher to the left is a stone monument to the
history of the temple.
