Much of the traditional economic activities of the locals
are founded by its lakeshore. Handicraft and fishing industries
are common in the area. Rizal is also the site of yearly
religious pilgrimage activities, particularly the Antipolo
church, known for the Statue of Our Lady of Antipolo. There
are also century-old churches worth visiting for their intricate
architecture, such as those in the municipalities of Baras,
Morong and Cardona.
Rizal province is also known for its artists village in
the town of Angono. Many of the well-known Filipino painters,
such as the late Carlos "Botong" Francisco who is known
for his realistic murals of patriotic themes and Vicente
Manansala, known for his cubist paintings, are sons of this
town. Guest can visit several artists' homes where they
normally keep a gallery and have a chance to see them at
work. At present, among the most popular artists who reside
in Angono are Jose Blanco, a muralist whose children are
also established painters, Nemi Miranda, a realist whose
works focus on the traditions of the province, and Orville
Tiampson, an equally versatile artist.
