International Travel Expo '99-Kangwon-do
Sokch'o Kangwon-do, 11th September - 30th October, 2000
Experience the cultures of other nations through wonderful displays and performances. Folk dances, theme performances, and other standing events will be held.

 

Kangjin Celadon Cultural Festival
Kangjin, Chollanam-do, 16th - 20th September, 2000
It is held in order to promote the authentic beauty of Kangjn's Koryo celadon and to share its invaluable properties with more people. Ceramic lantern parade, on-site celadon-making class.

 

Ch'usok
23rd - 25th September, 2000
Korean Thanksgiving Day. It is celebrated on the 15th day of the eight lunar month. Family members come from all parts of the country to visit their ancestral homes.

 

Namdo Food Festival
Nagan Upsong Folk Village, Chollanum-do, 1st - 7th October, 2000
Chance to taste the local Chollanam-do cuisine, famed as the best in Korea. Cuisine-related events, traditional wedding ceremony, folk art performances.

 

Andong Mask Dance Festival
Andong, Kyongsangbuk-do, 1 - 5th October, 2000
Mask dances of all kinds, Korean as well as foreign, will be performed. Festival higlights include the Korean and Foreign Mask Dance championship, Folk Festival and Samul-Nori.

 

Halla Culture Festival
Chejudo Island, 2nd - 10th October, 2000
The biggest folk event on Chejudo Island, the Halla Festival hightlights the unique customs of Chejudo and boasts a variety of programs, including the Miss Tangerine Pageant and folk dances, each October when the tangerines are fully ripened.

 

National Foundation Day
3rd October, 2000
This day commemorates the legend of the founding of the first Korean Kingdom, the Ko-chosun Kingdom, in 2333 B.C. by the god-king Tan-gun.

 

Shilla Culture Festival
Kyongju, Kyongsangbuk-do, 8th - 10th October, 2000
A combination of Buddhist and other cultural events take place to reenact highlights of Shilla culture.

 

Paekche Culture Festival
Puyo, Ch'ungch'ongnam-do, 9th - 12th October, 2000
To celebrate and preserve the achievements of the once-glorious Paekche culture, over 60 special cultural events, including the Paelche Drama Festival, will be held.

 

Christmas
25th December, 2000
Christmas is observed as a national holiday in Korea.
