Designed by Herman Gesellius, Armas Lindgren and Eliel
Saarinen in the early 1900s, the museum's architecture contains
allusions to Finnish medieval churches and castles, with
elements of Art Nouveau.
The museum showcases Finland's rich archaeological background,
cultural history and ethnological collections as well as
the development of Finnish life from prehistoric times to
the present.
Unfortunately, the museum is closed because of renovations
and will only reopen in June 2000.
