Switzerland Cuisine and Food

Fondue

Fondue
Fondue is a famous Swiss dish made with melted cheese. Cheese such as Gruyere and Emmental, produced on Swiss dairy farms are heated in a pot and flavored with garlic, pepper, white wine, and kirsch (cherry liqueur). Fresh bread is dipped into the hot cheese using forks.

Crusty Breads

Crusty Breads
A great variety of crusty breads bearing the typical imprint of their region, golden Bärner Züpfe (a braided eggbread), jams and fruit preserves, and real Müesli are all very much a part of Swiss life, especially at breakfast. And for lunches and dinners, consider escargot, or superb pâtés. In Switzerland the freshest vegetables and fruits are widely used, and colorful salads are featured on every menu.

Sapsaygoh
Also known as Schbzieger , sapsago is a hard cone-shaped cheese from Switzerland. It's made from skimmed cows' milk and contains less than 10 percent fat. It has a light green color and pungent herbal flavor that come from the addition of blue melilot, a special variety of clover. Sapsago is used primarily for grating and adds interest to everything from salads to pasta.
