Just 20km offshore and a short ferry trip from Perth is
Rottnest Island, where visitors walk or cycle to soft sandy
beaches fronted by the cystal clear Indian Ocean. Surfing,
swimming, scuba-diving and fishing are some of the activities
here.
This is also the home sanctuary of abundant wildlife, including
a friendly marsupial, the Quokka.
No cars are permitted on the island, which has a hotel and
villas and cottages for rent. Ferries sail daily from Perth,
Freemantle and Hillarys.
