Skyrail is Australia's most outstanding example of a commercial
tourism venture and unique natural environment which exist
in total harmony. Skyrail has received numerous awards since
the opening, and has also been voted Australia's best major
tourist attraction.
There are 32 towers over the 7.5 kilometer (4.7 mile) route.
The tallest tower is 40.5 meters (133 feet) high and are
all built in isolated clearings of 10 meters (33 feet) square.
All four stations were constructed in existing clearings
and helicopters were used so that no roads were built for
construction or operation of Skyrail.
Maximum speed is 5 meters per second (18 km/h or 11 mph)
but, usually, the cableway runs slower, so that passengers
have more time to enjoy the Skyrail experience.
